Victorian Floral Leaded Stained Glass Window
Fans of traditional Victorian stained glass windows have asked me for years if I would consider making traditional stained glass windows, so here we are! This window is made with textured English muffle glass and a singular amber crystal seated in the middle. Crystals and bevels were often added to Victorian and Edwardian windows to add to the luxury of the style that used to represent wealth and prestige.
This window is made in the centuries-old technique of leading and cementing. Each piece of glass is hand cut, ground to fit and then seated into long lead strips that are cut to exact length. The piece is then cemented, cured, polished and framed. Typically, the framing is also lead but I cut zinc strips into a mitered corner frame (that is also cemented to the piece) for an extra sturdy and bright finish.
Materials: Stained glass, lead solder, glass cement, zinc metal frame; sturdy metal hooks and chain included for hanging.
Measurements: Approximately 10 x 16 inches
This piece will be wrapped in colorful tissue paper, packaged in environmentally-friendly, plastic-free cushion wrap, and shipped in a recycled cardboard box.
